Leveraging Your Most Precious Resource

What’s the one resource, the one thing we all get when we’re born, the one thing that no matter where you live, what your education, your income level, your circumstance, what’s the one resource where we all have an equal playing field? Time. Results Revolutionaries don’t just manage time, they “leverage” time. In part 2, I shared the first of 3 secrets to leveraging your time and creating a time management plan that works. (http://trishcarr.com/sizzling-strategies-to-get-er-done-part-ii/) Today we’re talking about the next 2 steps:

1. Identify the 2-4 actions to take every day that’ll move you forward in 1 or more of your major goals.  For example, if you want to earn $10,000 a month that means you must make time to call prospects. If your goal is to get fit, you’ll have activities like buying and cooking healthy food and exercising 5 times a week.

2. Schedule those 2-4 actions in the first part of your day in REAL TIME. That means they go on your calendar just like any other appointment. Treat it as if you promised someone you’d do it. Because you did, you promised you. The sense of accomplishment you get from doing these actions will propel you for the rest of the day.

Be realistic about the time it’ll take to accomplish the activities. Estimate the time   and then add 50% more. Things often take longer than we think. And even though you’ve blocked out the time as uninterrupted time, often there’ll be something that interrupts you. No matter how minor, how short the interruption, it still causes a slow-down

Expect interruptions and plan for them. If you don’t get interrupted and you do the task in less time, you can move on to the next item on the list or add another activity that moves you forward.
