Calls to Action and Their Importance in Online Marketing

Call To ActionEvery piece of your online marketing sales copy is important, but one tiny chunk soars in significance above the rest: your call to action. It is the most important part of the marketing sales copy, yet it is often overlooked.

This tiny chunk of text turns your message from something your readers will simply read, into something they’ll react to. A call to action (CTA) tells your readers what they should do next, whether it be replying, downloading, sharing or buying. A CTA is an image or text that prompts visitors to take action. It advertises an offer, tells you what to do and takes you to a landing page.

The purpose of writing marketing sales copy is to get people to do or purchase whatever the product or service may be. With all the time and energy, you invest in your copy; you need to be writing the best calls to action possible. Write a “blah” call to action that no one notices or gets excited about, and you might as well not write the copy at all. The internet is full of information as well as sales copy and yours is just part of the mix out to grab people’s attention. One click is all it takes to jump from one topic or website to another. Everyone is competing to get that click. Even though the sales copy could be outstanding, if the call to action is missing or ineffective, then it is a waste of your time and your readers.

A powerful call to action is short sweet, easy and clear. Position the CTA in the right place and you’ll get higher conversions. Words, like “Click Here,” “Read More” and “Buy Now” are how you tell your reader what you want them to do and where they will respond.

The sales copy peaks the readers interest, your call to action is where they make their decision.
